Growing evidence for the health implications of gut bacteria

For some decades, or more, natural health practitioners have been aware of the link between gut bacteria and health.

In particular, many inflammatory conditions, such as arthritis, asthma and inflammatory bowel, and other conditions such as multiple sclerosis, and even heart disease and cancer on occasions, can be linked.

The gut contains both beneficial and harmful bacteria, and it seems that an imbalance between these - too much 'bad' and not enough 'good' bacteria - contributes to there conditions.

Now, there is growing research showing that this is, indeed, the case.

Two research items, in particular, this week highlights this:

Arthritic test will end pain for millions, according to the Mayo Clinic.

A growth in abnormal bacteria in the gut promotes inflammatory bowel disease, according to the magazine Nature.
